The National Legal Right Protection (NLRP) council is a recognized body providing free legal services across the country. It was founded in 1999 with an aim to provide legal services to the needy and the weaker section. NLRPC is a group of lawyers and social activists dedicated to the use of the legal system and rights in India and the sub-continent . NLRPC has established helplines and legal aid clinics across the state of the Tamil Nadu and later throughout the country that provide legal advice and regular legal counselling, in person or via the telephone. National Legal Right Protection Council inaugurated a wonderful scheme for the student community all over India. NLPC has been actively proving free legal aid services to women. Therefore it has taken effort to teach the fundamental law for the students. The aim of NLPC – India is to reduce the crime rate and corruption by creating legal awareness among students. With is in view NLPC has scheduled free legal awareness seminars across the country.

As a part of the centenary celebrations, Queen Mary’s College(A) in collaboration with National Legal Rights Protection (NLRP) Council conducted an inaugural function of ‘Mail complaint service’ and ‘LEGAL STUDENTS SERVICE WING’ in Queen Mary’s College on 12th January, 2015. The dignitaries who graced the occasion were T.V.Madan Kumar, General Secretary, NLPC, Mrs. R.C. Subbulaksmi , President Women’s Wing , Dr. P. Vanagamudi Vice Chancellor , Dr. Ambedkar Law University and Dr. Akthar Begum , Principal, Queen Mary’s College (A). Renowned Tamil writer, director, stage, television and film actor, Mr. Visu was the Chief Guest. He is reputed for theatre productions and films which focus on social issues, especially women’s rights and empowerment. The LSS unit of Queen Mary’s College(A) has an enrolment of 450 students The coordinators of the unit are Dr. M.S. Ambikeshwari, Associate Professor, Dept. of History, Dr. S. Kamaladevi, Assistant Professor, Dept. of History and Dr. R. Kamala Murugan , Assistant Professor, Dept. of Tamil.
The LSS wing of Queen Mary’s College (A) and NLPC conducted a programme on 2nd February 2015 to launch the ‘NLPC JOURNAL AND HOLY SCRIPT CLASSES’. The dignitaries on the occasion were Mr. M.N. Krishnamani Ex- President of Bar Association, Supreme Court, Dr. Akthar Begum , Principal, Queen Mary’s College, Mr. T.T.
