The Department of English, Queen Mary’s College, has a well-stocked department library to enrich the learning experience and to initiate the creative process of the students pursuing the English Literature Programme. The library is a repository of knowledge and has 5000 books which are accessible to the students who have enrolled in the Under Graduate, Post Graduate, M.Phil and Ph.D courses. The annual non-plan funds ensure that a good number of books are added to the library periodically. The Head of the Department and Library Committee Staff select the books meticulously and procure the latest ones to add on to the invaluable library collection. Apart from these books, approximately 300 gift books have been donated by the retired and current faculty. Both primary and secondary sources are available for research-oriented faculty and research scholars. The books placed in glass and steel cupboards are carefully maintained by the staff. The catalogue, bills, student issue register, staff issue register, reference book register and gift book register are maintained diligently by the library committee staff. The library has enough space, tables and chairs to accommodate 20 students. The library provides the right ambience and reading space for scholars to pursue meaningful and quality research.
