The Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility Centre (BIFC) sponsored by department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India was inaugurated by Dr. T. Madhan Mohan, Advisor, DBT, New Delhi on 7th October 2010.
The Centre has been primarily catering to the research needs of Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Physics, Biotechnology and Computer science students. P.G. and Research scholars from our college and other colleges can access BTIS net, DBT through this centre and can do projects. Every year, workshops and Training programmes are conducted which facilitates the participants to get hands on training in Bioinformatics tools and Accelerys Discovery studio 4.0 software.
A Central Instrumentation facility has been setup in the campus with Rs. 1 crore fund from DST-FIST “O” level. It was inaugurated by the former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on 21.08.2014.
This facility has sophisticated instruments like FTIR, UV-VIS and AAS spectrophometers, Lyophiliser, Electrochemical work station and Trinocular research microscope and 18 Computers. The facility is available for research scholars and faculty of neighbouring institutions at a nominal cost.
