Dr. M. Raziya Parvin

About 

Dr. M. Raziya Parvin possesses a brilliant academic record and has over 24 years of teaching and research experience.  She was awarded Ph.D. in the year 1999 by the University of Madras for her thesis entitled “Empowerment of Women in Tamil Nadu”.  Her field of academic specialization includes Tamil Nadu History, Modern Indian History and Women Studies with particular reference to Political Empowerment of Women, Women’s Rights and Women’s Participation in Sustainable Development.  Her academic contribution includes the role as the Editor for Tamil Nadu History Congress Proceedings, Journal Peer-Review Committee Member, SCERT Review Committee Member and Study Materials writing member for the Institute of Distance Education, University of Madras. She has authored three books viz., “Empowerment of Women: Strategies and Systems for Gender Justice” (Dominant Publishers and Distributors, New Delhi, 2005), “Socio-Economic Empowerment of Women: Dimensions and Strategies” (MJP Publishers, Chennai, 2014), “Trends and Patterns of Women's Political Participation in Tamil Nadu” (MJP Publishers, Chennai, 2023) and ”Saluting Women in Indian History" published by MJP Publishers, Chennai, 2023.  She has also gained Google Scholar citations and h-index. She has also edited a book on women and socio-economic issues and published more than 15 articles in the edited books.  Additionally, she has written 15 articles in Tamil for the monthly magazines of "Penmani" and "Thittam", as well as published 90 research papers in the International, National, Regional journals and Conference proceedings.  During the year 2015, she has successfully completed a Major Research Project sponsored by the UGC.

Dr. M. Raziya Parvin has acted as Chairperson for various Seminars, delivered special lectures as resource person in various academic bodies and has presented 52 papers on women’s issues in the International and National Conferences/Seminars.  She has been awarded with 9 Prizes for education, research and services for public good.  She has involved in organizing Seminars and Conferences at the national and international levels, acted as Ph.D. Public Viva-voce Examiner for 20 students, 1 student viva is over and three students are on the verge of completing their Ph.D. Degree under her guidance. She also serves as the Doctoral Committee Member for 20 students, Chief Invigilator for various Government Examinations, Question paper setter for various Universities and Colleges all over Tamil Nadu, Board of Studies Member for framing syllabus of the University of Madras and also acts as the Interview Board Adviser in Government personnel recruiting bodies. At present, she acts as the Co-ordinator for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s “Naan Muthalvan” scheme of BFSI in the institution where she is working at present. Dr. Raziya Parvin owns the You Tube channel, [https://www.youtube.com/c/DrRaziyaParvin] where she shares knowledge about the inspiring and influential personalities in Indian History. To date, 500 videos have been uploaded in the channel and the popular playlist category is “Saluting Women in History”. With the aim of empowering younger generation in the society, she also participates in numerous motivational speaking, career counselling, student welfare, public welfare activities out of personal passion and continues her journey.
