About Department
The Department of Chemistry is one among the basic science Departments of this premier institution which was started as a department for intermediate students in the year 1917. It was established as a major department to offer UG course in Chemistry in 1949. It has elevated to the status of PG department in the year 1994. The department had begun to offer Ph D program from the year 2011 and followed by M Phil in 2013, which aims at nurturing young students with intellectual curiosity and a pursuit for knowledge. The department is well supported and uplifted by a panel of 15 dynamic, dedicated, and qualified faculty members, out of which 12 of them are Ph D degree holders and 3 of them are M Phil degree holders pursuing Ph D course. The department strives to train and mentor students as responsible chemists and holistic personalities in all aspects of life.

Programme Outcome
The aim of the UG &PG programs in Chemistry is to create an individual with higher knowledge in the subject concepts, develop good communication skills through writing the assignments and presenting seminars, get inclined to analyse and solve problems, thereby making a significant contribution to the talent pool in chemistry.

The total correlation of skills for the program is arrived out by assessing the skill levels for each unit on a scale of 3 in which the value of 1, 2, and 3 correspond to low, moderate and strong correlation, respectively. Skill levels below 30 % are not correlated and left blank.
