The Department offers the following courses

- 4. Ph.D. Zoology (FT & PT)
The Department provides Allied Zoology course to B.Sc Botany and Chemistry students. The Department also conducts Extra disciplinary elective (EDE) course for other department PG students and Non major elective (NME) course for other department UG students.
History
The Department was instituted in the year 1957 with Pre-University (PUC) and undergraduate Degree course. It was upgraded as PG department in the academic year 1993-94. Research had a start from the year 2002 – 2003 onwards with the beginning of M.Phil course. The Department acquired Ph.D. recognition from the University of Madras to guide Ph.D. students from the academic year 2012-2013.

Mission
Queen Mary’s College campus is indeed an ideal venue for higher learning and research especially for Women students. The sylvan surroundings of the college are home to diverse fauna and a boon to zoologists. The learned faculty of the department provide further impetus to the quest for learning. Apart from its commitment to higher learning the Department of Zoology aspires to make a significant contribution to conserving biodiversity and promoting sustainable development.

Programme Outcome
The outcome of UG and PG program in Zoology would be to create an individual with very high knowledge in the subject concepts, develop good communication skills through frequent seminars and digitally conversant through presentations, get inclined to analyze and solve problems, have a quest for enquiry and learning.
The program also gives abundant opportunity for students to pursue disciplinary cum systematic learning ,enhance and explore her communication skill set , undergo thorough training in analyzing problems , motivated to learn through questions and updated topics , work in teams, to take initiatives, become digitally efficient , embrace moral values , be aware of the resources available to equip knowledge, earnest to be self-learner and project their findings globally.
