The subjects offered in the previous syllabus have been arranged in the chronological order.
The contents of the core, allied and core-elective papers have been formulated with certain modifications in accordance with the syllabus of TANSCHE.
History of USA has been introduced in the Sixth semester in order to make the students to understand the contemporary world.
New core papers such as History of Madras and Indian Constitution have been incorporated to introduce local history and the awareness of our constitutional structure.
Maximum papers related with Indian History and Tamil Nadu History has been accommodated which would benefit the students to sit for the competitive examinations once they complete their degree.
2022-2023
BA
Four Core Elective Papers with internal choice has been introduced:
1. Art and Architecture of South India
2. Introduction to Modern Journalism
3. Geography of Tamil Nadu
4. Introduction to Sociology
The intention of these papers is to make the students to get acquainted with the syllabus of TNPSC Examinations.
2023-2024
BA
The contents of all the core courses of the syllabi have been formulated absolutely in accordance with the syllabus furnished by TANSCHE.
The elective courses which have been opted in all the Semesters are absolutely discipline specific and will be handled by our department itself.
The elective courses entitled – Women Record Makers of India during the 5th Semester; Tourism in Tamil Nadu and Women Change Makers of Tamil Nadu during the 6th Semester has been formulated.
All the courses have been incorporated with the objective of helping the students to gain sufficient knowledge which would help them for higher studies and gain employment as soon as they complete the degree
2021-2022
MA
1. Cultural Heritage of India renamed as Indian Culture and Heritage
2. Indian Constitution has been renamed as Republican Constitution of India
3. Since Economic History of India (First Semester) is available in History of Freedom Movement in India (Second Semester) the new paper called Environmental History of India has been introduced.
4. Empowerment of Women India has been changed into History of Women Empowerment
5. Archives Keeping was changed into elective course
6. History of South-East Asia has been offered in core course
The subjects offered in the previous syllabus have been rearranged according to the chronology and to avoid repetition. The Elective course has been changed into a core course.
2024-2025
MA
The syllabus prescribed by the TANSCHE has been implemented in accordance with the prescribed instructions from the institution.
Little modifications were made in the content of some of the core and elective papers.
The course entitled Indian Constitution which has been offered as an elective paper in TANSCHE has been made as core paper since the Project with Viva-Voce is calculated as one course in the institution.
It has been resolved to retain the elective courses entitled Chennai through the Ages, Science and Technological Developments in India and Socio-Economic Development Programmes due to the demand from the students.
The elective courses entitled Women in India through the Ages and Gender Studies offered by TANSCHE has been clubbed together to form a course Women Empowerment in India and it has been made as one of the choices of an elective paper in the 4th Semester.
The skill enhancement courses viz., Teaching and Research Aptitude for UGC Examination, Research Report Writing and Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation for UGC Examination has been formulated since it is beneficial to the PG students to get acquainted with the UGC – NET Examination during their period of study itself.
The courses offered by TANSCHE has been included throughout the syllabus. Some of the courses were attempted with little modification inside the content. The elective courses are well formulated, and the skill enhancement courses has been done keeping in mind of the UGC NET Examinations.
